Education, learning and skills.
Grading engines, assessment platforms, learning experiences and the systems that hold them together. Built by a team that’s done it for awarding bodies and skills charities.
What we hear.
- Systems you can’t afford to get wrong.A grading error lands on real candidates’ results and on your reputation.
- Constant change in the sector.New qualifications, short courses and apprenticeship units (live since April 2026, per the Commons Library) all need software to follow.
- Pressure to use AI, carefully.Assessment and evidence checking are obvious candidates, and exactly where human judgment and audit trails matter most.
How a fractional team helps.
We know the territory
We’ve built EAL’s grading engine and marketing site, TG Consulting’s assessment centre platform and Enginuity’s Enspire City and careers platform.
Change without drama
New rules and qualifications go into the queue as small, tested releases instead of a fresh procurement each time.
AI with a human in charge
Where AI helps, such as drafting, checking or summarising, we build it with clear human sign-off and a record of what happened.
For organisations with live platforms we’d usually recommend Embedded Plus. One manual process to fix? Try an Automation Sprint.

Add as many as you like. Each track builds one at a time, and you review every piece as it lands.
Relevant work.
EALA grading engine an awarding body can stake its reputation on
EAL needed final grades for a brand-new qualification calculated correctly, for every candidate, every time. We designed it so the engine stays right even when everything around it changes.
Grading thousands of candidates
TG ConsultingEVOLUTION: one platform that works for students, assessors and organisers
TG Consulting was stuck on off-the-shelf assessment platforms that fitted nobody. We designed for each group separately, then brought them together in one platform.
Built for three very different users
EnginuityEnspire City: making engineering careers playable for children
Enginuity wanted children excited about engineering and manufacturing. We built an animated, gamified city with accessibility designed in from the start, shaped by feedback sprint after sprint.
Accessible by design
EnginuityTurning complex career data into a simple path into vaccine manufacturing
Enginuity had the research. It needed people with no technical background to understand how their skills could transfer. We prototyped it in Figma first, then built it to scale.
Launched on time and in budget
The team at Fluff Software have been instrumental in bringing the vision of Connected Competence to a digital platform. Branding of the programme, and the design, and development of the website and web app was swift, and they check in throughout the process to make sure that things are working for us.
Questions we hear.
Can you work on our existing software?
Yes, and most clients start that way. We review the codebase early so we understand it before we change anything.
Is AI writing our code? Is that safe?
We use the latest AI tools because they make us faster, but a senior developer designs, reviews and tests everything before it reaches you. Nothing ships just because a tool produced it.
Will you sign our NDA?
Of course. We’re happy to work under your NDA and security policies.
