The situation
Born to be Free was an idea with two goals: teach children about endangered species and drive donations to conservation charities. It needed shaping into something engaging for children, convincing for parents and educators, and fundable.
What we questioned first
- Who is it for, really?Research into similar games and their audiences informed the design, tone and content.
- How does it raise money without spoiling the game?We explored in-app purchases, donation prompts tied to achievements and sponsored elements with conservation partners.
- What’s the smallest thing that proves it?An MVP focused on a single endangered species: its habitat, the threats it faces and how players can help.
What we built
A clear roadmap from MVP to launch, an early-stage prototype with core gameplay and a child-friendly interface, and a funding strategy built around the prototype.

What changed
The project moved from a rough concept to a defined plan with a working prototype, which the founder used to secure interest from potential investors and partners.
How we’d work on this today. Not every idea should go straight to build. A Discovery Sprint answers the big questions first, so the money goes into the right product. Start with a Discovery Sprint
