The situation
Pilots rely on checklists in the cockpit, but checklists aren’t built for learning. Fabio Toyama had designed cards that visualise flight procedures and wanted them in an app that worked both for detailed study and for a quick reference mid-flight, on any screen size.
What we questioned first
- Reinvent the format, or keep it?Several rounds of design and user testing showed the fixed-card layout was the most effective for in-cockpit reference, so we kept it and refined zoom, pan and navigation around it.
- Who should test it first?Early builds went to a trusted group of testers through Firebase, and Fabio was involved at every stage.
- How do we reach every pilot without three apps?React Native gave one codebase across iOS, Android and the web.
What we built
A clean, cross-platform app that combines a custom interface with familiar mobile patterns, with analytics, crash reporting and authentication through Firebase.

What changed
A tool that serves pilots before and during flight, shaped by feedback from working pilots.
How we’d work on this today. Early builds in front of real users, then tighten. That loop is how the fractional team works on every request. How the fractional team works
